Victoria, Hongkong, January 5th, 1844.

I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 30 of the 30th ult. and to acquaint you that His Excellency the Governor sanctions a stove being purchased for your Office at an expense not exceeding $80.

The Bill (in duplicate) for the Stove will be paid by the Treasurer on your countersigning it; in proof of its correctness.
